Mollywood
A Scooty & JoJo Show
With Scooty & JoJo's latest "parod-usical" MOLLYWOOD, the ultimate John Hughes muse, Molly Ringwald, is having a bad day. Her family has totally forgotten her sixteenth birthday, she has no date for the prom, and if things couldn't get any worse, she just got a whole day's detention for passing a note in class. What's a girl to do? Sing!
Having mined the pop-cinematic/musical landscape of the
late 70's with CARPENTERS' HALLOWEEN last October and that of the early
80's with TRAN - THE ATARI MUSICAL this past March, Scooty & JoJo
have set their sights on the first significant cinematic fables of
Generation X: the John Hughes teenpics of the mid-80s. MOLLYWOOD
fuses the characters, storylines, and soundtracks of "Sixteen Candles",
"The Breakfast Club", and "Pretty in Pink" into a campy lampoon and
love letter to the sacred cows of an entire generation (namely, ours!).
Tue & Wed at 8pm, May 6-21 at Mary's Attic, 5400 N Clark
Tuesday, May 6 is a $10 preview with opening on Wednesday, May 7
Fri & Sat at 8pm, May 9-31 at The Spot, 4437 N Broadway
