Internship Opportunities
We are looking for dedicated individuals are interested in innovations in theater and performance to help build a new production company. Interns will have the opportunity to shape a production company, learn the ins and outs of producing, and connect with performers and producers in the Chicago area. Internships are unpaid. However, some responsibilities accompany stipends. We also encourage students to get independent study credits and will insure ample time throughout the internship to make it a true learning opportunity.
Internships will spend between 5 and 15 hours per week depending on availability. Interns will participate in regular production meetings and work primarily from their own homes. Based on interest and background, interns will be involved in one or more of the following areas:
Stage Management: Opportunities include scheduling and management of rehearsals, workshops, and performances, working closely with an accomplished director, production manager, and performance team, learning and operating various sound/lighting/video systems, managing load-ins/-outs at multiple venues, stage management for full productions as well as single events and variety shows. Stipend available.
PR and Marketing: Opportunities include implementation, distribution and management of email marketing, tracking press, booking photography and filming personnel, branding, advertising, development and distribution of posters and postcards, website development and maintenance, and MySpace updates.
Audience Development: Opportunities include capturing names and contact information from audiences, maintaining systems of contact to insure audiences return for subsequent shows, and tracking where we should focus our marketing strategies.
Business Management: Opportunities include development and maintenance of accounting system, developing and updating a business plan, securing and tracking investors, and navigating the incorporation and licensing of the company.
Box Office: Opportunities involve confirming reservations over email, running box office and tracking attendance at events, insuring reservation lists for night of events, and having programs prepared. Stipend available.
